What We Do
2concon.org is a website primarily dedicated to the convening of an American Second Constitutional Convention. A more distant goal of 2concon.org is the achievement of a balanced apportionment of governmental resources along certain human rights guidelines stated and implied in the Declaration of Independence and, for the most part, ignored by the Bill of Rights. In the process of achieving both objectives, 2concon.org wants to help citizen slackers become citizen bosses by focusing on human rights’ issues and awareness.
We recognize that the Constitution should not be amended for either superficial or transitory reasons. At the same time, we believe that most American know that there is no way to obtain the required votes of 2/3 of Congress’s members to obtain passage of even one important proposed amendment. We hope that the large number of proposed amendments on our site is not construed to trivialize the Constitution, but is only an indication of the work required to reform our Constitution in ways to further democratize our Constitutional process and to recognize certain rights omitted from the Constitution.
Navigation. This is a participatory website and we offer you the opportunity to be a contributor to our site. Our navigation process is direct and simple: Our pages include the following features: On every page there is a “Most Popular Proposed Amendments” box featuring the most popular proposed amendments as voted on by site visitors. You can click Vote Now on the “most popular proposed amendments” box to vote for amendments on the short list. The short list is a compilation of all of the titles of the proposed amendments without descriptions. On the “most popular proposed amendments” box or on the navigation bar you can also click Submit Your Amendment to draft your version of a proposed amendment that you would like to see passed at a 2nd Con Con.
On the Proposed Amendments page we present an overview of the proposed amendments, explain the Article V requirements for having a 2nd constitutional Convention. Then we offer a long list of proposed amendments, with reasons for supporting them, to the Constitution. We believe that four of these amendments are so absolutely essential to our democracy that we frame them in red, creating a “red box.” We want you to think outside of the box, but believe that if no other amendments than these four were passed at a 2nd Constitutional Convention, the Convention would be a success worth all of the effort. On this same page you can vote “yes” for any of the proposed amendments you would like to be passed at a 2nd Con Con. (38 proposed amendments are offered initially, but the list will grow as viewers will submit proposed amendments they would like passed at a 2nd Con Con.)
On the Blog page we post essays and opinions on human rights; their relationship to the purpose of government, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution. We discuss the relevance of allocating government resources according to human rights guidelines, and offer ideas on how a holistic body of human rights could be used as an organizational schematic for government and business.* We invite your comments to our blogs.
On the Getting Involved page we suggest ways in which you can be involved in the movement for a 2nd Constitutional Convention and, at the bottom section of the page, “What Have You Done for a 2nd Con Con Lately,” we offer you the opportunity to submit a message to report any news regarding anything you or others have done to support the calling of a 2nd Con Con.
On the About Us page, we give background information on 2concon.org’s creator and primary blogger.
On the Contact Us page, we provide you the opportunity to contact us regarding general comments on the web site or for whatever reason.
It is our hope that we assist all of our visitors to recognize the importance of convening a 2nd Con Con and that we are successful in encouraging others to become part of a movement for a 2nd Constitutional Convention.
